The sound of Broadway hits the Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT) Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, July 1. “Eden Espinosa – Live in Concert” is a benefit performance presented by MCT’s Next Step Prep as a fundraiser for its scholarship fund.

Eden Espinosa is best known for her portrayal of Elphaba, the green-hued wicked witch of the hit Broadway show “Wicked.” In addition to her work with “Wicked,” Eden originated the role of Brooklyn in the Broadway production, “Brooklyn the Musical,” and was featured as Maureen in the closing production of “Rent,” now available on DVD.

Eden has been featured in solo concerts from San Francisco to New York, performed to a sold-out crowd at Los Angeles’ Ford Amphitheatre, and appeared with symphony orchestras from Charlotte, North Carolina to Shanghai, China.

Eden will be in Missoula as a visiting guest artist for MCT’s Next Step Prep, a summer high school musical theatre program. Each year, students from around the country come to Missoula for a six-week intensive training in musical theatre. Through this program, they have the chance to learn from some of Broadway’s biggest talents.

“Eden Espinosa – Live in Concert” begins at 7:30 p.m. at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts located at 200 N. Adams Street in Missoula. Seating is general admission and tickets are $25/person. The show also includes performances by the 2015 participants in Next Step Prep.

All proceeds for this concert will benefit the Next Step Prep scholarship fund. Tickets are available online here, by phone (406) 728-7529, or at the MCT Box Office.
