Nutcracker and Clara
Montana Ballet Company (MBC) is bringing the magic of the holidays to Bozeman with a completely refreshed production of The Nutcracker and the beloved family event, Tea with Clara. This year’s performance promises to be the most exciting yet, thanks to brand-new choreography, stunning artistry, and a historic artistic partnership.
A Completely New Nutcracker Experience:
For the first time in its 42-year history, MBC is collaborating with both the Bozeman Symphony and Opera Montana’s Youth Chorus. Together, these local arts organizations are creating one of the largest artistic collaborations in the region. The result is a fresh, dynamic production that stays true to tradition while elevating the experience for today’s audiences.
Performances take place during Christmas Stroll weekend at the Willson Auditorium:
– Saturday, December 6 at 2 and 7 p.m.
– Sunday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Audiences will be treated to world-renowned guest artists Lyrica Woodruff and Benjamin Freemantle as the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. They will share the stage with MBC company dancers, Soren Kisiel of Broad Comedy, and more than 100 community performers.
The Bozeman Symphony will perform Tchaikovsky’s iconic score under the direction of Dr. Matthew Makeever, whose lifelong connection to The Nutcracker adds heart and passion to every note. This collaboration creates an unforgettable musical and theatrical experience for all ages.
Tea With Clara: A Holiday Event for Families
Before the curtain rises, families are invited to enjoy Tea with Clara on Sunday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at The Kimpton Armory. This charming event features Nutcracker performance highlights, dancing with Clara, delicious tea and treats, keepsake photos, a boutique filled with Nutcracker treasures, a mimosa bar, and a family-friendly silent auction. It is the perfect way to introduce young children to the world of ballet.
