Indigo with Joan Black

Jul 18

Those who love the color blue, the serenity of indigo are encouraged to join this hands-on workshop with Joan Black using natural indigo dye to create one-of-a-kind patterns. Learn the basics of indigo dyeing and pattern-making using Shibori, the ancient Japanese method of producing pattern. A variety of tools will be used to tie, clamp, bind, and twist fabric to create beautiful textiles.
During three hours of color play students will create new from the old, while developing unique patterns on cotton, silk, linen or wool fabric. Stumptown supplies natural fabric squares to use for dyeing, the dye pots, workspace outdoors, a drying area, and all the materials needed to fold, crimp, tie, clamp, and more.
