Joan Renne: Tapestries for the Body and Wall and Larry Blackwood: Synthesizing Icons are on display April 8-June 11.
Renne’s exhibition highlights the work of the Flathead Valley artist and master weaver. A native Montanan, Renne is also an accomplished classically trained musician who utilizes improvisation both in her unique fiber sculptures and tapestries as well as her music.
Blackwood transposes photographs, patterns, and imagery popular in the Western art scene, pushing the traditional boundaries of photography and subject matter. He uses a computer program to blend original photographs, repeat images and other techniques, to create Surrealist tableaux that are ethereal and mysterious.
