Held annually in late July, the Montana Clay Tour is a studio tour and pop-up sale. Helena-based professional ceramic artists invite their colleagues from around Montana to join them in their studios for this two-day event.
This year's Montana Clay Tour will feature six local ceramic studios that will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 30-31. Each studio will also showcase regional ceramic artists from across the state, with over 40 artists participating.
The tour offers an intriguing array of handmade pottery and ceramic sculpture showcased in the intimate environs of homes and studios.
As a group, the ceramic artists represented here care deeply about beauty, craftsmanship, and the communities they live in and are dedicated to showing and selling high-quality work to the public.
Studio hosts include Tara Wilson, Montana City; and Robert Harrison, Giselle Hicks, George McCauley, Chip Clawson and Joe Crowley, all of Helena.
