Newsies

Jun 6 - Aug 22

Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies follows a ragtag band of teenage newspaper sellers the “newsies” led by a charismatic orphan named Jack Kelly. When powerful newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer raises the price the newsies must pay for their papers, Jack rallies the kids to strike with the help of plucky young reporter Katherine Plumber demanding fair treatment and respect. As the newsies organize a city-wide strike, they fight not just for better wages, but for dignity, solidarity, and hope in a harsh world. Along the way there’s friendship, courage, music, and the belief that united even scrappy kids can stand up to power and “seize the day.”
