free, catered, public reception will be held for "Continuum: Contemporary Native American Art," on Sept. 19 at the Northcutt Steele Gallery, on the first floor of Liberal Arts Building, MSUB campus.
The exhibit, which closes Oct. 3, features a selection of contemporary Native American art curated by Nikolyn Garner and on loan from the Missoula Art Museum. Featured in the gallery adjacent to "Continuum" are selected ledger drawings from MSUB’s Barstow Collection. Completed between 1879-1897 by Apsáalooke (Crow) and Hidatsa (Gros Ventre) artists, these works offer poignant images from the Reservation Era.
