Juror Julia Andrews selected 60 works from 543 entries for this inaugural juried exhibit, which continues through Oct. 10.
The finalists represent 18 states as well as a range of media including painting, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, and photography. Exhibition visitors are invited to vote for their favorite work through Sept. 11. People’s Choice, Juror’s Choice and Purchase Awards will be announced at 6:30 p.m. during the reception on Sept. 12.
Noted artists in the exhibition include Billings’ own Brooke Atherton, who layers maps, calendars, and landscapes into avant-garde textile creations; Red Lodge-based sculptor Kelsey Bowen, whose whimsical sculpture, The Runaways, offers a surrealistic portrayal of two humanoid rabbits escaping on a rocking horse; and Jenny Wong-Stanley, from Oakland, whose bent-wood sculptures reflect a reverence for nature.
