SymBozium is an award-winning civil discourse series presented by the Bozeman Public Library. The topic is “The Ethics of Death and Dying.”
Join a thoughtful conversation about dying in modern America. Now, more than ever before, medicine has the technological tools to prolong life, but is this always desirable? Panelists explore the ethical complexities of death. How important are advance-care directives? What about physician-assisted death? Should heroic measures be offered to extend a painful existence? What does it mean to have a "good death"?
Panelists include Kathryn Tucker, executive director, End of Life Liberty Project; Lois Shepherd, professor of Biomedical Ethics, University of Virginia; and Dr. Shalina Lingley, geriatric medicine, Bozeman Health. The discussion will be moderated by Carson Taylor, former Bozeman mayor.
