The play is based in the UK and is a Tony and Olivier Award-winning adaptation of Mark Haddon’s highly acclaimed novel. The performances of this Rated R-Restricted (Parental Guidance Strongly Cautioned for Audiences Under 17) production are March 16-26, 2025. No previous experience is required.
if unable to attend, a video audition may be submitted, using the guidance on the website. DEADLINE FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS is Saturday, January 11th.
The play is under the direction of Sarah Walker Thornton, who directed MCT’s recent production of The Play That Goes Wrong. Thornton is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, a co-founder of the NYC-based Bama Theater Company and served as the Executive Artistic Director of the Cloverdale Playhouse in Montgomery, Alabama for 6 years.
The play follows Christopher, a 15-year-old boy with an intentionally unnamed sensory processing disorder. The character of Christopher is a very challenging and demanding role. Actors under the age of 18 auditioning for Christopher need parental consent. The high-tech staging and fast-paced script will require a cast of 10 actors, ages 16 and older, of all genders including an ensemble of 6 who play a variety of roles from neighbors, travelers, microwave ovens (not a typo) and will be constantly moving on stage throughout the entire show (lifting, stacking boxes, creating physical settings). The play also contains special effects, strobe lights, and projections; actors with sensitivity to these elements may find the environment challenging. British dialects will be used in the show, but not required when auditioning.
Use the Main street entrance and proceed to the 3rd floor to complete an audition form. Performance dates are March 16-26, 2025.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, at auditions and throughout the company as a whole. The listing of available ages and/or other specifications are determined by the source material, which MCT is contractually required to follow.
