As part of its WaterWorks series, Mountain Time Arts brings renowned choreographer Ann Carlson to Southwestern Montana in July. Carlson’s majestic opus, The Symphonic Body/Water, will feature 50 performers from the region. The piece’s performers are community members including agricultural producers, politicians, anglers, environmentalists, business leaders, scientists, artists and more. Together they will spotlight the human labor and activity of the area’s diverse water workers.
Instead of instruments, individuals in Carlson’s orchestra perform gestures based on the motions of their workday. Mountain Time Arts commissioned celebrated Bozeman architect Ben Lloyd to design an orchestral shell to house Carlson’s unique performance work.
The Symphonic Body/Water takes place in two locations in the Gallatin and Paradise Valleys on July 18, 19, 20 and 21. Receptions follow each performance.
Free reservations will be taken at www.mountaintimearts.org beginning June 27th. A reception will follow.
