O Sole Trio, an exhilarating and uniquely talented classical crossover ensemble, storms Montana this month. The trio performs April 2 in Libby, April 5 in Ronan, April 8 in Fort Benton, April 10 in Superior, April 13 in Paradise and April 14 in Hobson.
Several years ago, three musicians from the far corners of the world moved to New York City with the common goal of pursuing their dreams of becoming world-class performing musicians. O Sole Trio brings together the lush and mesmerizing voices of soprano Erin Shields and baritone Giuseppe Spoletini, as well as the versatile and virtuosic David Shenton on piano and violin – the world’s first (and possibly only) musician to play violin and piano simultaneously.
Since its inception, O Sole Trio quickly established themselves as a musical force, performing in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (which also commissioned their first show), The Redlands Bowl in California (to a crowd of more than 6,000), and Ronnie Scott’s in London, in addition to 200 other venues in the United States, Canada, and the UK.
From deliciously witty to incredibly moving, O Sole Trio’s shows have it all; they breathe new life into familiar toe-tapping favorites with their unique and innovative arrangements. The trio has garnered rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
“O Sole Trio has been garnering raves and word-of-mouth praise for their fun blend of Italian opera and classic jazz, with the Italian language mixed in,” wrote NewYorkEdge.com.
O Sole Trio’s show, Bravissimo Broadway, combines classic show tunes from the most beloved Broadway musicals, with their own unique arrangements. The performance includes highlights from shows such as “Les Misérables,” “West Side Story,” and “Phantom of the Opera,” mixed with original arrangements, such as the hauntingly beautiful “Edelweiss” from “The Sound of Music,” in three-part harmony. The show offers a 70-year journey through the best songs and behind-the-scene stories Broadway musicals have to offer.
O Sole Trio continues to tour extensively throughout the United States and will offer educational outreach concerts and masterclasses to children of all ages and economic backgrounds during the group’s Montana tour.
