The award-winning Halie Loren and the dynamic Steven Santoro take the stage at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell Jan. 18 for Jazz Night at the Symphony. The two artists perform with the Glacier Symphony String Orchestra and special guest musicians.
The concert promises to blend contemporary jazz and pop with orchestral brilliance.
Loren, an international, award-winning jazz singer/songwriter, brings a fresh and original perspective to time-honored musical paths. Her multi-genre and multi-lingual musical blend have fueled 10 albums to date and earned several national and international awards as well as significant critical and chart success. Her albums consistently reach #1 on the Billboard Japan, iTunes (Canada and Japan) and Amazon jazz charts.
Her new album, “Dreams Lost and Found,” was recorded in Montreal and released last spring by Justin Time Records.
Steven Santoro studied Afro-American Music and Jazz at the University of Massachusetts, honing his skills in singing and improvisation, and blending the classics with his own contemporary vision.
His musical journey took him to Los Angeles, where he released his debut album, debut album, “Moods and Grooves,” and to New York City, where he established himself as a respected club performer and a sought-after session singer for national and international advertising campaigns. He’s collaborated with some of the top musicians in town including Kate McGarry, and modern dance composer Peter Jones.
He’s also been a distinguished professor at the renowned Berklee College of Music for more than two decades.
The New York Observer wrote, “He’s a wildly accomplished performer with a soulful intensity and movie-star sex appeal. [He] takes risks and lands on his feet.”
Jazz Night includes a mix of original compositions and timeless classics from the American Songbook.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the performing arts center located on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College.
