On Stage

Raven’s Feather Productions launches its 2025 season with The Children by Lucy Kirkwood, March 28-April 13 at the Helena Avenue Theatre. The production features some of Helena’s best-known theatre talent, with John Rausch directing Mike Casey, Mary Linn Crouse and Pam Ponich.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. The theatre is located at 1319 Helena Avenue.

The Children is set on the coast of Britain, which has just experienced the partial meltdown of a nuclear reactor. Robin and Hazel, a retired couple who had worked at the plant, are now dealing with the aftermath, including limited electric power and contaminated water. They receive a visit from Rose, a former colleague from America, who forces them to contend with their shared past and responsibilities to future generations.

Ross Peter Nelson, president of Helena’s newest theatre company, says Raven’s Feather’s is excited to bring The Children to the stage. “Treating a tricky subject with both humor and dread, this play deserves all the accolades it has received,” he said.

Kirkwood is British playwright and screenwriter whose work has appeared repeatedly on international stages and won awards since 2006. Her play Chimerica won both the Olivier and Critics Circle Awards and The Children was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 2018.

She is currently working on a new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches for The National Theatre in London.

Tickets are $20 general admission and $18 for students and seniors, and are on sale now at the Raven’s Feather website, www.ravensfeather.org/tickets.
