Bozeman Symphony brings its season to a powerful close

with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Copland’s Third Symphony

On Stage

Sidelined by an injury, world-renowned guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas will unfortunately not perform as scheduled.  He will be replaced by the wonderful and vibrant violinist, Simone Porter, who will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, one of the most prominent and highly-regarded romantic violin concertos. Composed at the height of Mendelssohn’s brilliant career, the concerto became an instant classic and remains one of the

cornerstones of the repertoire.

The violinist, who performed the Barber Violin concert with Bozeman Symphony in June 2023, has been recognized as an emerging artist of impassioned energy, interpretive integrity, and vibrant communication. In the past few years, she has debuted with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and several renowned conductors. Raised in Seattle, Simone made her professional solo debut at age 10 with the Seattle Symphony and her international debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London at age 13. In March 2015, Simone was named a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant.

The program concludes with the Bozeman Symphony performing Aaron Copland’s monumental Third Symphony—a quintessentially American masterpiece.
