Blazina paints at the Quick Draw Event
The Carbon County Arts Guild and Depot Gallery will host the 52nd Art in the Beartooths Quick Draw with Live Auction on July 12. The Quick Draw Event will be held at Lions Park in Red Lodge from 4-8 p.m. and offers an opportunity to visit with the 20 artists creating art and watch them go from blank surface to finished piece in two hours. Food, drink, music, and a live auction of the work created will take place under the tent. As part of the event, a Silent Auction will take place at The Carbon County Arts Guild and Depot Gallery from June 27 through July 14.
The Carbon County Arts Guild and Depot Gallery has been a driving force in the Red Lodge community since 1973. It was founded by a group of citizens desiring a higher quality of life through the arts and for several years the group operated at various locations around town. They offered classes, acquired art equipment, organized fundraisers, and helped artists sell their work.

The years 1982-1983 marked a significant milestone for the Guild through the donation of the historic Rocky Fork and Cooke City Railway Depot in Red Lodge by the Burlington Northern Railroad. With this permanent structure and through the hard work and dedication of many artists and art patrons, the non-profit organization has grown into a great cultural resource for the region.
Some of the programs they organize include workshops and classes for all ages, gallery talks, and providing an art teacher to four rural schools. The Arts Guild hosts exhibitions put together by the Montana Art Gallery Directors Association. In 2025, the Carbon County Arts Guild partnered with the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association to offer the Beartooth Artist-in-Residence program.

The online silent auction as well as the Art in the Beartooths Quick Draw and Live Auction support the vital work: providing access to art, supporting artistic expression, and encouraging creative experiences for the enrichment of Montana communities. These programs are also funded in part by coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana’s cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund.
