Well-Strung, a dynamic string quartet known for fusing classical music with popular pop songs, all sung in four-part harmony, performs 7:30 p.m. March 9 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish and 8 p.m. March 10 at the Ellen Theatre in Bozeman.
The New York City-based string quartet derives their unique blend of vocals and string finesse by mashing classical music with the pop music of today. They meld Kelly Clarkson with Mozart, Taylor Swift with Bach, Rihanna with Vivaldi, Green Day with Pachelbel, and do it all in perfect harmony.
Audiences around the world have praised their amazing vocals, skillful playing technique, and their one of a kind “POPssical” arrangements. Having twice appeared on The Today Show, this foursome has quickly gained international attention with performances in London, Rome, and Vienna, as well as selling out venues across the United States. Says the Huffington Post, “It’s difficult not to fall for Well-Strung’s undeniable charms.”
The Well-Strung quartet features Edmund Bagnell on first violin, Christopher Marchant on second violin, Daniel Shevlin on cello, and Trevor Wadleigh on viola. The group first began performing together in a workshop production of the show at Ars Nova in New York City in 2012. The show sold out at Joe’s Pub that same year, before garnering an extended run at The Art House in Provincetown, MA, and playing Off-Broadway at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater. The group returned to Off-Broadway in 2013, selling out the Highline Ballroom.
Since then, Well-Strung has been invited to perform at the Vatican in Rome, appeared with Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live,” and has performed with artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Audra McDonald, Deborah Voigt, and as the opening act for Joe Jonas and his band DNCE. The group has received critical acclaim at New York’s Feinstein’s/54 Below, House of Blues in New Orleans, and the Leicester Square Theatre in London.
