Bigfork Summer Playhouse alumnus and Broadway actor Stephan Stubbins and wife, Libby Servais bring their two-person show, “Broadway in Love,” to the Bigfork Summer Playhouse on Sunday, Aug. 28.
“Broadway in Love” is a musical concert celebrating Broadway’s most touching, hilarious and captivating love songs.
As a young actor, Stubbins performed at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse in 1999 and 2000. Playing the parts of Will Parker in “Oklahoma,” Cosmo in “Singin’ In The Rain” and George M in “George M” as a part of the summer acting company was an experience that made an indelible impact on his life. His parents and family members currently live south of Bigfork on Flathead Lake.
“Some of my happiest memories of performing on stage come from my time at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse,” says Stubbins. “It’s a dream come true to return to the Bigfork stage and to share it with the love of my life.”
Stubbins and his wife, Libby Servais, met while performing in a show together in 2013, fell in love and then married in 2019.
Stubbins’ professional performing career has been highlighted by his time on Broadway in “Mary Poppins” and in the pre-Broadway world premiere of the musical “Memphis.” He also sang an opening act solo for Frank Sinatra, headlined an opening act for Rita Moreno and has worked with artist legends on and off stage including Dick Van Dyke, Kristin Chenoweth, Ben Vereen, Conan O’Brien and more. He is also the co-founder of the “Broadway Under the Stars” concert series in northern California’s wine country.
Servais was most recently seen on Broadway in “Wicked,” floating in the bubble as Glinda. She also performed the role with the National Tour and San Francisco company and was featured on NBC’s “A Very Wicked Halloween” television special.
Additionally, on Broadway, Servais was in the original Broadway cast of “Lysistrata Jones.” Some of her Off-Broadway and regional accomplishments include roles in “The Magnificent Seven” (Dominique Moceanu), “Chicago” (Roxie) and “Legally Blonde” (Elle Woods), for which she honored as a Broadway World award winner for “Best Actress in a Musical.”
Stubbins and Servais will be joined onstage by a live three-piece band featuring Bigfork local K.C. Isaman on bass, Paul Merendino on drums, and Todd Schreiber on piano.
The show begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, and tickets are $18-$27. Learn more at BroadwayInLove.com
