An Evening with Maira and Alex Kalman

Elk River Arts & Lectures will kick off its inaugural Visiting Writers program by hosting internationally acclaimed artists and authors Maira and Alex Kalman for a week-long program that will include this public lecture.
Maira Kalman, who was born in Tel Aviv and lives in New York City, has written and illustrated 28 adult and children’s books, and is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker. She has participated in a range of high-profile collaborations including Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual with Michael Pollan, and 13 Words with Lemony Snicket.
Her latest book is a stunning and engaging visual memoir, Sara Berman’s Closet, produced in collaboration with her son, Alex Kalman a creative director, curator, and inventor who owns What Studio? The New York-based gallery devoted to “curiosity, humanism, humor, optimism, and originality.” His work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, among others.
In addition to their public lecture, the Kalmans will work with Livingston school children during their week in Park County.
