An Unnatural History: Animal Images In The MAM Collection

Mar 29 - May 28

LT Pick

This exhibition represents a small selection of artworks from MAM’s Collection with a focus on the animal as subject matter. For some artists, the animal is simply a muse, such as Dog, by folk artist E.W. Riley; Untitled, Francis Pearson’s sculpture of a mallard duck; and Beyond Opposites by Brad Rude.
Indigenous artists often depict animals that are culturally significant or as a way to make commentary on contemporary society. Among them are artists Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, Susan Stewart, Jeneese Hilton, Jason Clark, Rick Bartow, Ernie Pepion, and Duane Slick.
Jay Rummel, E.W. Riley, Noah Reifel, and Heidi Oberheide also have works in the show.
