The Bozeman Symphonic Choir will share the stage with the orchestra, performing one of Giuseppe Verdi’s most beloved compositions, the powerful Te Deum from his Quattro pezzi sacri. This ancient Latin hymn is a dynamic expression of praise to God, frequently performed at Roman Catholic masses and significant celebrations.
The concert will further enchant attendees with Carlos Simon’s captivating Four Black American Dances, which illuminates the importance of dance as a vital form of social connection, ritual, celebration, and worship within Black Pentecostal church communities.
Closing the concert will be Charles Ives’ Symphony No. 2, a masterful work that celebrates American symphonic traditions while playfully intertwining hymns within an innovative and whimsical musical framework, challenging conventional European classical forms.
