Because of an unfortunate injury, guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas will not be performing with the Bozeman Symphony this weekend. In his place, violinist Simone Porter will return to Bozeman to help bring its 2024 25 season to a powerful close.
Porter will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, one of the most prominent and highly-regarded romantic violin concertos. Composed at the height of Mendelssohn’s brilliant career, the concerto became an instant classic and remains one of the cornerstones of the repertoire.
The violinist, who performed the Barber Violin concert with Bozeman Symphony in June 2023, has been recognized as an emerging artist of impassioned energy, interpretive integrity, and vibrant communication. In the past few years, she has debuted with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and several renowned conductors. Raised in Seattle, Simone made her professional solo debut at age 10 with the Seattle Symphony and her international debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London at age 13. In March 2015, Simone was named a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant.                  The journey concludes with Copland’s Third Symphony, offering an emotional journey from the uneasy tranquility of the opening movement to the heroic optimism of the finale.
