Free performances from the Big Sky Festival Orchestra, with Maestro Peter Bay, begin at 6 p.m. and the the Rhythm Future Quartet performs at 8 p.m. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 heralds the return of the full Big Sky Festival Orchestra. Music by Vaughan Williams, Germaine Tailleferre with special guest harpist Abigail Kent, and award-winning composer/conductor Eric Funk round out the program.
Boston-based acoustic jazz ensemble the Rhythm Future Quartet keeps the spirit of Gypsy jazz alive and expanding in today’s musical universe. The Wall Street Journal heralds the group as the “ worthiest current day successors to the legacy of the great Django.”
The festival opens Friday with a ticketed double-header concert at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center with Grammy-winning singers The Crossing with Shara Nova and Abigail Kent and Friends.
