Built to Spill

Boise-based, indie rock band Built to Spill was formed by Doug Martsch in 1992. His intention was to sustain a project that would involve a rotating cast of musicians to record albums and tour, which is exactly what he’s done. Thirty years later, Built to Spill has released a total of nine studio albums (including a cover album) since their debut, Ultimate Alternative Wavers, came out in 1993.
Untethered Moon, was released in 2015, which Exclaim! said was “arguably the most enjoyable Built to Spill album since 1999’s pivotal Keep It Like A Secret”; an ode to Daniel Johnston was released in 2020.
