Helena-based Cohesion Dance Project’s brings its full-length production of “Resonance An Evening of Art Inspiring Art” to the Dennison Theatre at the University of Montana. The original evening-length production premiered in June 2018 in Helena.
With dance and sculpture at its core, “Resonance” is a multi-faceted project incorporating original works from collaborating artists inspired by, and in response to, one or more of the other art pieces created during the project.
Resonance incorporates three kinetic sculptures fabricated by nationally-recognized metal artist Richard Swanson (Helena); poetry by best-selling author, photographer, and poet Tyler Knott Gregson (Helena); original music by dance accompanist/percussionist J Stuart Smith (Albuquerque, NM); and original choreography by Cohesion’s Tanya W. Call, Amber Moon Peterson and Julynn Wilderson.
The piece is performed by local community dancers and professionals, including Missoula-based Madi Kelly, Faith Morrison, Jasmine Woods and Ashley Zhinin, along with Cohesion’s Peterson and Wilderson.
This marks the second performance in Cohesion Dance Project’s Bitterroot Cascade Tour, which also brings the performance and outreach of Resonance to Great Falls May 31.
The Master Class/Audition for the Missoula performance will be held Sunday, May 19, from 2-4 p.m. at the UM-PARTV Building. Cost is $10.
