Through March 30, Zoot Art Gallery hosts ‘Contemporary Landscapes, a joint exhibition by artists Brian Maly and Samantha Hinckley.
Like people, individual landscapes have distinctive personalities, says Hinckley. She hopes her body of work gives a voice to surrounding environments and engages viewers in an appreciation of “place,” while promoting realization of the inherent, mutually formative relationship between humans and nature. She uses hand drawings and paintings in her serigraphic process to create short run, aesthetically unique print editions that celebrate the play between paper and ink.
Maly’s primary focus in painting is to create contemporary landscapes or impressions “of whatever happens to catch my attention in the physical world.”
