Written by award-winning British playwright Duncan Macmillan with UK comedian Jonny Donahoe and alternately starring Helena native Rosie Seitz Ayers and Ryan Eggensperger, this powerful one-actor show explores mental health, families and the ways we love in a hilarious and uplifting production for both adults and teenagers.
A young boy compiles a list of things worth living for to ease his mother’s depression. Through adulthood, he learns the deep significance that the ever-expanding list has on his own life, as he goes to college, falls in love and builds a home.
Playwright Macmillan said he aimed to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness by creating new ways to discuss it openly and by making people laugh.
The play’s co-creator Donahoe describes it as “the funniest thing you’ll ever see about the least funny thing in the world.”
Grandstreet Theatre of Helena is coordinating the Montana tour, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield. A talk-back with the audience follows each free performance.
