"Step into a celebration of Northwest Montana’s native flora through the textured world of linocut printmaking. In Garden Walls, Whitefish-based artist Tarek brings the beauty of wild plants indoors, transforming gallery walls into immersive botanical landscapes. Each piece is a hand-carved, hand-pressed, and hand-painted linocut print, uniquely finished with delicate layers of watercolor.
The show draws its name from both the iconic Garden Wall in Glacier National Park and the metaphorical act of placing wild flora within gallery walls. It's a nod to the artist’s decade guiding in Glacier and his enduring relationship with the land. With roots in Sweden and a background in product design engineering, Tarek's journey to full-time printmaker is as layered and thoughtful as his work.
These detailed depictions are drawn from his personal adventures, meant to slow us down, help us notice what we often pass by, and spark deeper reflection on our relationship with the natural world.
