Today, nearly 38 million Americans live with a disability, but many of their stories remain underrepresented in the historical record. In the Yellowstone River Valley, this history includes nation-leading efforts and cutting-edge approaches. Using in-depth primary research and recent oral history interviews by museum staff, this exhibition seeks to uncover the unique and surprising stories from this diverse community. Hear from those who experienced, and even pushed society’s changing perspectives on people living with disabilities.
