This duo exhibit is by brothers Cameron and Quinton Decker, both multidisciplinary artists keenly aware of the importance of history and ancestry.. Camero’’s art practice is guided by intuition, memory, and connection to place. His work with natural materials carries meaning, memory, and deep time of geological histories compressed into color. Whether working in painting, drawing, printmaking, or public art, Cameron’s hope is to honor those who have shaped him.
Quinton’s work spans painting, sculpture, and photography exploring themes of identity, perception and social mythology. This exhibit will feature two bodies of work in painting and photography, the first which reframes dehumanizing mythical creatures in order to examine power of the colonial imagination; and in the other, to examine humanity and the erosion of the American Dream. Together, the work reflects on what it means to be seen as human, as monstrous, or as something in between.
