The 15th annual free family event at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas begins with the ninth annual Walk-A-Mile for Peace from 9:30-11 a.m. Register to walk, donate to another walker, show up on the day of the event or walk from virtually anywhere in the world in solidarity for peace.
The Peace Festival begins at 11 a.m. and features guest speakers, live music and dancing, food vendors and arts, crafts and service booths. This intercultural event is free and open to all.
Guest speakers include Khen Rinpoche, Lama Tsomo, Khenpo Namchak Dorji, Betsy Mulligan-Dague of the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center, and Tribal Elder Stephen Small Salmon and Rev. Paul Armstrong, who consecrate the peace pavilion.
Music is on tap from the Drum Brothers, Kathleen Karlson and the Shake Bliss Band, Came Cote, and the Vintage Band; Balinese percussion, Hindu spiritual music, and Tibetan dances add to the multi-cultural experience.
