First Reads: Dance Nation by Clare Barron

The Montana Repertory Theatre is delighted to announce the return of its "First Reads" staged reading series, featuring three captivating plays that promise to engage and entertain audiences. Staged readings allow them to test these stories in the community before adding sets, costumes, or other theatrical elements, enabling the audience and actors to immerse themselves in the text and envision future productions.
Directed by Michael Beverley, the final reading in the series is Dance Nation:
Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they’ll claw their way to the top at Nationals in Tampa Bay. It is a play about ambition, growing up, and how to find our souls in the heat of it all.
