Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Chorale’s celebration opens April 5 with a free “Recital of Voices” at Glacier High, then moves to Kalispell High for two concerts. Saturday’s performance, “Bach, Bruch and Russian Easter,” features J.S. Bach’s cantata, “Sleepers Wake,” Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture. The festival culminates Sunday with a grand performance of Haydn's sacred oratorio, "The Creation”,” featuring orchestra, chorale and three vocal soloists. Haydn was inspired to compose the work after hearing Handel's music in London at the beginning of the 19th century. With text drawn directly from the book of “Genesis, this astounding work is set in three distinct parts, the oratorio alternates arias and duets with choruses and instrumental movements.
