the symphony opens its masterworks series with a nod to “Gershwin and Nielsen.” Featured in the “Piano Concerto in F” by Gershwin is young Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez, a rising star and Juilliard alumnus. The repertoire also includes Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, “Inextinguishable,” and Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide.”
