Heidi Haugen has been making ceramics for the past 20 years. The fourth-generation resident of the Flathead Valley received her degree in Forestry from the University of Montana and after working for both the U.S. Forest Service and the National Park Service, she decided to pursue working with clay full time in 1998. A primarily a self-taught artist, she creates pots the are stout, simple, functional, and intended to be a part of your daily routine.
Jessica Glenn is a former Flathead resident, who now lives in Dillon. She considers herself a life-long student of watercolor. “Watercolor’s clean simplicity allows me the control I desire for crisply rendered, textural details found in my subjects, whether it be a ghost town saloon, wrinkled leather cowboy boots, or the patterned foliage of a Rocky Mountain wildflower.”
Because both artists love exploring the understory of Montana’s wild places they decided “Into the Forest” was a perfect theme for their show.
