Jill Krutick, a New York artist influenced by the sublime in nature, impressionism, and pop culture, present a talk in the gallery at 6 p.m. Thursday, and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning. Her exhibit continues through Jan. 5.
Krutick’s paintings trace her joyful path of creative exploration and discovery. She layers paint and glazes over swirling textures in a series of actions and reactions akin to jazz.
Bill Stockton (1921 2002) was many things: artist, sheep rancher, soldier, sign painter, performer, storyteller, husband, father, grandfather, and dyed-in-the-wool Modernist.
The exhibition, on display through Jan. 5, surveys six decades of art making, beginning with student drawings Stockton made in Paris in the 1940s and ending with his last painting, in 2002, of the scrub brush and reeds on his ranch near Grass Range. A catalog and several events accompany the exhibition.
