Melanie Alvarez-Home Gun has been painting professionally for the past 20 years, and centers her work on the human condition and indigenous people, depicting “the raw side of life that we all came from where endurance is recognized and the spirit of humanity is revealed.” Her portraits of Blackfeet people reflect endurance, strength, perseverance and gentleness.
Her work is on display through Nov. 22 in the Weaver Room.
“A Modern Impact,” featuring the works of Montana masters Rudy and Lela Autio,opens Sept. 13 and continues through Nov. 29 in the Jesse Wilber and Lobby galleries.
