the Montana Bale Trail, formerly called "What the Hay," which started as a good-natured spoof between two neighboring ranchers, has become a nationally recognized celebration. The contest showcases an eye-catching and "am-hayzing" display of more than 50 hay bale-sculptures lining the Montana Bale Trail, a 21-mile long loop of state highways 239 and 541 from Hobson to Windham, with Utica located directly in the middle. Hay and locations can be provided for contestants in two categories: adults and children 12 and under.
