While it combines two snowboarding events into one, this 20th annual event is more of a reunion than a race, more a celebration than a competition.
The “Contest for a Cause” supports suicide prevention among young people in Montana through the Nate Chute Foundation. Nate Chute was a well-known snowboarder from Whitefish, who tragically took his own life at a young age. Many of his friends come back to Whitefish from across the country for this event, which includes a banked slalom Saturday and boardercross on Sunday. Both events begin at 10:15 a.m. and last all day.
Other events include the Live Auction Rider Calcutta, 5-8 p.m. Friday at Bonsai Brewing Project with Hawaiian food and live music by JC.
Saturday night’s benefit party starts at 4:30 p.m. at The Bierstube and features live music with the Flip Wilsons.
