Open AIR’s Moon Randolph Artist-in-Residence Anne Yoncha (US) is Assistant Professor of Art + Painting Area Coordinator at Metropolitan State University Denver. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, she earned her MFA from the University of Montana in 2019 and later received a Fulbright fellowship at the Natural Resources Institute Finland, where she collaborated with restorationists to create art about former peat extraction sites. Her work blends digital tools—like bio-data sonification—with analog processes, including making ink from local plants. Since 2019, she’s worked with the HAB (High Altitude Bioprospecting) group at Finland’s Kilpisjärvi Biological Station, using heli-kites to detect high-altitude microbes. When not in the studio, Anne does research via bicycle.
