The exhibition showcases the photography and cinematography of Samantha Robison and features the landscapes and activities a small-scale cattle rancher in the Madison Valley of Montana. The exhibition includes the screening of the film “108 Max Lane”.
The works center around Max Robison, a fourth-generation rancher and the second in his family to ranch in the Madison River Valley. Max will likely be the last. As land prices soar, the centuries-old tradition of small-scale family-run ranches is fading out, yet still holds relevance for the American way of life. Photographs and film captured over the span of two years reveal the beauty of a landscape and lifestyle seemingly untouched by the modern era. The images capture the seasons of ranching life, chronically brandings, cattle drives and the ever changing vistas.
