Queen City Ballet Company's The Nutcracker

Nov 23 - Nov 24

The QCBC’s traditional version of The Nutcracker is a staple of Helena’s holiday season. With stunning choreography, award-winning storytelling, and lavish professional sets and costumes, this production has long been one of the coveted cultural events of the season. Artistic Director Campbell Midgley says, “There’s nothing more enchanting and magical than QCBC’s traditional, classical production of The Nutcracker. It’s a wonderful way to introduce young audiences to the beauty of the performing arts while fostering a deep appreciation for ballet.”
Featuring a talented cast of QCBC dancers, students, alumni, and renowned guest artists, this year’s production promises a magical experience. Capital High junior Jaidyn McClain will dance the iconic Sugar Plum Fairy, a role she has dreamed of since first stepping onto the QCBC stage as a tiny archangel in 2011. "Watching Jaidyn blossom into the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a joy and a privilege that truly captures her dedication and growth as an artist," says Midgley.
Capital High junior Victoria Volodina will dance the role of Clara alongside guest artist Luis Gonzalez of Diablo Ballet. "Victoria has a natural sweetness that epitomizes Clara, and we’re thrilled to introduce new creative elements to her storyline," adds Midgley. Gonzalez, a seasoned professional from Joffrey Ballet and Atlanta Ballet, will also portray the Nutcracker Prince, while Diablo Ballet’s Michael Bushman returns to the demanding role of the Cavalier. Alumni Kaden Pfister will once again grace the QCBC stage with his dynamic talents and powerful charisma in the roles of Soldier Doll, the Nutcracker Soldier and famous Act II Russian Dance.
