Are you perplexed by the Oxford comma, the elusive "whom," or the dreaded semicolon? Make a date to meet the woman able to solve such queries with expertise and a laugh. Punctuation meets personality in the heartwarming film Rebel with a Clause, a docu-comedy that transforms grammar into an engaging adventure. Directed by Brandt Johnson and starring noted grammarian Ellen Jovin, the movie chronicles Jovin’s cross-country expedition with her "Grammar Table," a pop-up stand where she offers impromptu grammar advice to curious passersby across all 50 states.
From bustling city streets to serene mountain towns, (including a stop at Bozeman’s Public Library!), Jovin engages with individuals from diverse backgrounds, addressing their linguistic queries and concerns. Jovin’s light-hearted, approachable demeanor and insightful explanations make grammar accessible and entertaining. A celebration of communication and connection, Rebel with a Clause showcases how language can bridge gaps and foster understanding, highlighting the shared human experience behind our words.
Following the screening will be a Q&A with director Brandt Johnson and the film’s star, Ellen Jovin. Beer, wine, and other refreshments which may be brought into the seating area are available.
