Montana artist Audrey Hall is known for her poignant landscapes, ethereal equine abstracts and intricate gold bison photographs. Her work is part of the TIA Collection, a distinguished private collection created to lend significant works of art to museums and institutions.
For Bitter Taste, Hall ventured past the confines of two-dimensional pieces to create music under the pseudonym, Harlow Willis.
The multimedia series reflects on its primary theme of loss, the courage it often demands, and the opportunity it affords for reinvention.
Hand printed Prussian-blue cyanotypes with 18 karat gold accents are paired with matching hand-cut vinyl records, framed to hang on the wall yet accessible to play the songs. Many of the pieces are one-of-a-kind.
Through the music and corresponding dreamscapes, the work blends traditional photographic processes and studio recordings in a unique and limited offering.
