What happens when a photographer gives himself a white chair, a set of rules, and goes out into the countryside to ask questions? Find out in Dutch Bieber's "The Chair Project," on display March 2-30 at The Myrna's Jailhouse Gallery.
The Chair Project began with a bridge, a chair, and a plan to gather 20 eight-inch black and white photographs of the white chair and mount them in 16” x 16” black frames. The well-traveled chair appears on a small wood bridge at the Prickly Pear Creek Fishing Area, the steps of the Helena Cathedral, shrink-wrapped and put it in a tree, wedged between large rocks, and floating downstream. The exhibit is part of the Myrna's Grants to Artists Project.
