revered Billings artist, who endured 41 months of starvation, dehydration, hard labor, torture, and sickness during WWII, chronicled the history of the Bataan Death March in a series of drawings. The reception includes refreshments, jazz, a color guard and a reading of the excerpt of the Congressional Record, honoring Steele. The exhibit, which continues through Sept. 12, presents the POW collection as well as other work from his prolific and varied career. MMAC also shows images of the Garden City created by local artists in “Hometown: The MMAC Permanent Collection Celebrates Missoula.” Artists include Tu Baixiong, James Dew, Walter Hook, Marilyn Bruya, and others. Artist James Todd leads a gallery tour of his monumental “Family of Man” mural during the reception at 5:45 p.m.
