Slow Art Day 2025

The Yellowstone Art Museum welcomes museum goers to Slow Art Day for a day of special programming as one of the 146 global host venues.
Since its inception in 2008, Slow Art Day has encouraged museum and gallery visitors to engage with a few artworks at a deliberate pace. Most visitors typically engage with a piece for less than
thirty seconds while visiting a museum. By slowing down, more personal connections can be made with a work of art, and it can encourage better conversations surrounding the work.
To celebrate this year’s event, the YAM is providing a full day of hosted events, with each activity supporting Slow Art Day’s mission. The museum will display a set of featured works and multiple artists and community groups will encourage and guide visitors to enjoy the art
unhurriedly.
The day begins with Yoga @ the YAM from 9:30 11:30 a.m., and this special version of the museum’s yoga offering includes a slow look at art in the YAM’s Murdock Gallery.
At 11:30 a.m., Krista Leigh Pasini, owner of Rain Soul Studio and previous YAM Artist-in-Residence, will offer a guided meditation in the museum’s latest exhibition Tyler Joseph Krasowski: Everything Becomes Something. Krista will also offer this meditation for an
afternoon group from 2-3 p.m.
Billings area artists, the Copyists, will be painting selected works by Gennie DeWeese. Throughout the day, Billings Urban Sketchers will be working around
the museum’s campus.
