Siberian performers Yuliana Krivoshapkina and throat singer Nachyn Choreve of the Sahka Republic perform. Krivoshapkina is a virtuoso in the art of the khomus, the national instrument of the Sakha Republic in Russia. It functions much like a mouth harp, but differs in several respects. She amazed audiences at the Montana Folk Festival last July and is returning for an encore performance as part of the festival’s Folk in Schools project.
The evening performance is a fundraiser for the Mother Lode Theatre; a portion of the modest ticket price will be used to support the preservation of the historic theater.
