Steel Pulse: Reggae Against Racism

Formed in Birmingham, England, in the 1970s, Steel Pulse emerged as one of the leading voices of the UK reggae movement. Their groundbreaking 1978 debut album Handsworth Revolution earned worldwide acclaim and established the band as a force in roots reggae, blending powerful social commentary with unforgettable rhythms.
Over the years, Steel Pulse has created some of reggae’s most enduring anthems, including “Your House,” “Roller Skates,” “Soldiers,” and “Steppin’ Out.” In 1987, they made history as the first non-Jamaican reggae band to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Babylon The Bandit.
Their Reggae Against Racism Tour carries forward the band’s decades-long mission of using music as a force for unity and social awareness.
