In a live simulcast of this fantastical opera, the poet Hoffmann tells the unhappy story of his three former loves. In Paris, he loved Olympia, the beautiful singing mechanical doll whom he took for a real girl. In Munich, he fell in love with Antonia, the diva condemned to die at the slightest vocalization. And in Venice, he fell in love with Giulietta who stole his reflection and ran away. As Hoffmann is now in love with Stella, a renowned opera singer, will his passion for her suffer the same fate? Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Jacques Offenbach’s opéra fantastique, tells the story of a man facing the eternal choice between love and art.
